AC Nitrogen Pressure Test Kit

With this good-quality nitrogen pressure test kit, you can carry out a standing pressure test to check an air conditioning system for leaks.

A nitrogen pressure test may take up to 24 hours. The recommended testing pressure is between 150 and 200 PSI.

A standing pressure test on an R134a automotive air conditioning system may take approximately 10–30 minutes.

Recommended Testing Pressure

The liquid-filled pressure gauge allows you to set the pressure up to 240 PSI (16 bar). However, you must not exceed 200 PSI. This pressure is more than sufficient for carrying out a nitrogen pressure leak test.

The recommended test pressure is 150 PSI. If the pressure drops during the test period, this may indicate that the system has a leak.

Before assessing the result, allow the system temperature and pressure to stabilise. Changes in temperature can affect the pressure reading.

Finding the Leak

A nitrogen pressure test does not repair the leak. It helps you identify whether the system is losing pressure, but you may need additional equipment to find the exact location of the leak.

Suitable leak detection methods may include:

• Electronic leak detector
• Leak detection spray
• Soapy water solution

Important Information

This kit and its components are not suitable for strength testing. Strength tests on some AC systems can require pressures above 40 bar (580 PSI). Do not attempt to use this kit for a strength test.

This pressure test kit helps you find leaks before recharging your air conditioning system with refrigerant.

Always recover any remaining refrigerant before carrying out a nitrogen pressure test. The system should be empty before pressurising it with nitrogen.
